U9 Football v Ayscoughfee Hall (H) 2.15pm
Match Report
Result:
A: 4-2 W B: 0-6 L
With Ayscoughfee bringing just their A team, we agreed to play alternate quarters of ten minutes between our A and B sides. The A team played with style and strength as they held their ground under strong challenges from Ayscoughfee’s bigger players. George P, Valentina C and Freddie H formed a great trio in midfield and showed some real class with their passing; helping the debutant, the busy Monty R, find his feet well in his first A team appearance. Albie and Otto have started to form a good partnership in defence and showed good anticipation of opposition attacks. Bertie pulled off several good saves in goal. Both ten minute quarters ended 2-1 in our favour after very closely fought periods of play.
The B team found Ayscoughfee’s A team tough to break down, but showed remarkable resilience to battle away through both quarters. Some good tackles were put in but it was difficult to string together many passes before being shut down by some of their players. Josh W, Barnes N and Edward V set a good example as the older members of the team, and Hugo S was selected by the opposition as player of the match..
