Match Report

Lost - St Hugh's 167 for 12
Against 201 for 3

We travelled to Alford to play QEGS in a hardball fixture.  We played 5 pairs with 3 overs a pair.
Alford batted first, their first two pairs scored 26 and 28 respectively from their 3 overs.  Their 3rd pair scored -2 as Tabitha got a run-out and Edward bowled two wickets in consecutive balls getting a double wicket maiden.
Their final two pairs scored 17 each, setting a target of 102 for St. Hugh’s to secure victory.

Our first batting pair of Edward and George batted and ran well scoring 31 from their 3 overs, with George getting a boundary.
Alicia and Kitty scored 17 runs which included a run-out in their last ball.  Alicia scored a boundary.
Jude and Noah scored -1 from their three overs due to three wickets being lost.
Tabitha and Megan scored 5 as Tabitha was caught twice.
Charlie and Rupert came in and would have 6 overs to score 50 runs, a tricky task but a real possibility with their good running and big hitting.  In their first three overs they were on track scoring 25 for one… then the wheels fell off.  As the boys went to whack the ball rather than play cricket they lost 5 wickets in ten balls.  Despite Rupert getting two boundaries and Charlie one the deficit was too much.
St Hugh’s final score was 167.
