U13 Hockey v Worksop (H) 2.15pm

Match Report

Result: L 8-3

Following a game frozen off the week before, this was the boy’s first fixture and it was a rude awakening to the speed of the game as Worksop scored within the first minute and then the 3rd and then the 4th.  Granted, Worksop did have a couple of impressive hockey players, but standing off them and allowing them to dribble around you without pressuring them and tackling back didn’t help.  We then started to work better as a team and pass to each other and Worksop only scored one more in the 10th minute.  Half time was 4-0 to Worksop.  
In the second half Worksop scored a quick brace before we grew into the game.  Rory S was attacking well on the right and George, Edward, Rory P and Joshua F were providing attacking options through the middle of the park.  Noah was an outlet on the left. Captain Joshua N was performing impressively in goal despite the quality of the finishing.  Sam, Miles and Alistair were marshalling the defence on 5 minute rotations.  On 6 minutes we scored our first as George slotted the ball home, Rory P got our second two minutes later as we started to put together a strong passage of play.  Worksop scored in the 13th and 16th minute but the final act of the show was a third goal for St Hugh’s scored by Rory P.  The final score was 8-3 to Worksop.  Man of the Match was Joshua N in goal.
