Match Report
On Wednesday 26th February the U13 boys rugby 7’s team headed to Leicester Grammar School to take part in their annual 7’s rugby festival. We arrived at the school in plenty of time to enjoy a good warm up and appreciate the muddy conditions. We featured in the Blue pool which consisted of 5 teams. Our first game was against the hosts Leicester Grammar. The boys played well but struggled to finish our attacking efforts. We then played Lutterworth College and following a well fought game came up just short by the final whistle. The third game we played, Kings Grantham was a bit of a local rivalry due to boys playing for the same clubs. Again the boys' efforts were tremendous and King’s just pulled away at the end with a couple of well executed tries, 4 tries to 2 scoring for 2 for us was Charlie. Our final pool game saw us meet Loughborough Grammar. The boys played with tremendous heart but just lost out in the final seconds of the game. We then found ourselves drawn in the plate final against Shambrook. This was a fantastic game even in the awful condition of mud and hail. At the final whistle the game was tied at 4 tries each. Scoring for us was Rupert with 2, Charlie and Will C. This took the game into ‘next try wins’. Thankfully for us the ball fell for Sam who picked it up and dotted it over the line to clinch the win. Well done to all the players who gave everything across the afternoon. Very proud of you all.
