U13 Mixed Hockey v Repton Prep (A) 2.15pm

Match Report

U12

Result: 6-0 (W)

After an exciting journey and four seasons of weather, the U12s arrived at Repton raring to go! Edward P stepped up in goal, with Maddie and Eva providing a strong defensive partnership, Edward R controlled the centre midfield and Verity, George and Bella up front. Wonderful passing, determined tackling and excellent teamwork saw the team keep a clean sheet.
George opened the scoring with a superb cross-D slap into the goal. A series of short corners followed, but despite some good opportunities, we couldn’t convert them before half-time.

The second half was a different story - the floodgates opened and the team found the back of the net five more times. Adding to George’s first half goal, Verity scored two, Bella one and Edward R sealed the game with two more!
A special shout-out to Edward P, who bravely put on the goalie kit and produced a mighty save when it mattered! A fantastic team effort from start to finish - lots of fun to watch and even more fun to be part of.

Player of the Match: Edward R

U13

Result: 3-2 (W)

The Year 8 hockey team travelled to Repton, to take on our sibling Prep school who are well renowned on the hockey pitch. For the first half of the game we played their 3rds and then in the second half we stepped up to their 2nds.
We started well with Agatha seeing very little action in our goal in the first half.  Our defensive trio rotating on the pitch were Coco, Olivia and Tallullah.  Our rotating midfield was Miles, Emily and Eliza.  Our wingers were Lilian and Genevieve.
Despite seeing a lot of the ball in the first 5 minutes we were playing as individuals looking at dribbling rather than passing.  Miles scored our first goal after 6 minutes with Lilian doubling our lead a minute later.
The score at half time was 2-0 to St Hugh’s but it could have been more if we looked for quick passes to the back post in the D.

In the second half it was a tighter game as we faced some fresh legs and a couple of skillful individuals.  We scored after 10 minutes via Lilian and had further opportunities.  However, as we pushed further forward we left Agatha exposed at the back and Repton scored two in two with minutes left to the game. Final score was 3-2 to our Year 8s.

Player of the Game, as voted for by the opposition, was Lilian.
