Match Report
Result: L 25 - 40 (5 tries - 8)
We kicked off the weekly fixtures with the U13 Boys Rugby at home against Bourne Grammar. The weather took a turn for the worse which provided some challenging conditions for the players. Bourne won the toss and opted to receive the kick off. Both teams came out strongly with some well finished tries by both teams. St Hugh’s first try was scored by George with some great physicality and running with the ball. Set piece for St Hugh’s was fantastic with Miles winning every scrum. This provided a nice base to attack from and Rory S made the most of this picking and going from the back of the scrum he scored a further 3 tries adding to the tally. The game was pretty close at this point with Bourne matching the St Hugh’s try count. A few loose balls and missed tackles allowed Bourne to dot over a few more before half time. The second half both teams picked up from where they left off, a great physical contest. Bourne scored a few more, but the St Hugh’s players led by Sam did not let their heads go down. The result was some great rugby, playing to the conditions with lots of offloads. This then produced a try for Alastair.
Really proud of the team's efforts in less than ideal conditions. Well done to all players and thank you.
