Match Report

Result: W 25 - 5

St Hugh’s welcomed Lincoln Minster to the hallowed Hugh’s turf. Minster travelled with 11 players so in order to give everyone maximum playing time we agreed to provide them with two players. Both teams came out well with some great tackling and lines of running on display. St Hugh’s managed to create opportunities to score two tries in the first third. In the second third, we introduced a contested push in the scrums. This favoured Minster and they scrummaged really well turning over the ball. Handling errors meant that there were quite a few scrums meaning the ball changed hands quite a lot. Both teams put in some dominant tackles and rucking was really good, allowing for some quick ball around the breakdown. From this quick ball, St Hugh’s created another opportunity to get across the white wash before the whistle went. In the final third, the boys on both teams threw everything in and we had a feast of tries - St Hugh’s managed to achieve another two through some strong running. Lincoln Minster pieced together some great phases from their own half to score which wrapped the game up nicely.

Great effort from all the boys involved especially those six that put themselves forward to play 15 minutes for the opposition. Well dome!
