Match Report
Result: 20 - 10 (4 - 2) W
Destination - Oakham… Mission - Play some good running rugby and have some good fun. We arrived at Oakham and received a fantastic welcome. Oakham had a really large squad and we were a few short, so we agreed to have a couple of their players to give more boys the opportunity to play. We kicked off and the game appeared evenly matched with both teams having equal possession of the ball. St Hugh’s started to settle into the game moving the ball around and playing some good running rugby. The game opened up and Elliot was first across the line getting St Hugh’s off the mark. Not long after this, St Hugh’s got the ball back and down the line to Rico who went on one of his runs and scored another great try to add to his collection. Oakham fought back just before the half-time whistle to score a nicely worked try. Half-time - St Hugh’s 2 Oakham 1. The second half St Hugh’s approached with a new confidence and started playing some fantastic rugby, really showing what they can do. Elliot carried the ball really well, crashing through the Oakham defence to get across the try line for his second. Oakham responded well and a few slipped tackles, got the ball through their back line and crossed the line for their second try of the game. St Hugh’s defended really well with some solid tackling displayed by all the boys. The ball was turned over and we attacked up the pitch with a breakdown just in front of Oakham's try line. The ball squirted out and a quick reacting Spike picked it up and dotted down for St Hugh’s fourth of the game. That was full time and finished a great team performance by St Hugh’s. Well done boys!
