Match Report

Result: Won by 2 runs

We batted first against Alford Grammar School. Despite losing Wilf early on, we kept the scoreboard moving with useful runs from Will L, Ayden, Jenson and top scorer Euan. There was some positive running between the wickets and we finished on a creditable 99 for 9 after 18 overs. Alford had one very strong batsman (who plays for Yorkshire) who dominated their innings. Ayden and Will L took an early wicket each but Alford looked like winning, having reached 83 for 3 after 14 overs. Will C then got their main batsman out LBW for 40 and Euan and Wilf also picked up late wickets meaning Alford needed 8 off the last over. This went down to 4 off the last ball which Wilf bowled on target and they scrambled a single, meaning St Hugh’s won by 2 runs. A very close and competitive match.
