U8 Hockey

Result: 

Black v Purple 2-0

Red v purple 1-0

Red v black 2-0

The Under 8s played in their first school hockey fixture, and it was lovely to see all the children getting stuck in and enjoying the experience. The games were very evenly matched, and the children made super progress as the afternoon went on.
In the first match, Leo scored two excellent goals. In the second match, Alice scored the only goal of the game, in the final match, Arthur H scored two great goals.

It was fantastic to see the children’s understanding of the game develop throughout the matches. By the end, they were working more as a team. Next match is Monday, the main focus will be encouraging the children to spread out more and make better use of the space on the pitch.

A really positive first fixture, well done everyone.

U9 Rugby

The Under 9s played against each other for their first proper rugby match. It was good to be able to put the skills they have been learning into a competitive situation and there were very impressive performances from players of both sides. There was some excellent handling and support play going on and everybody got a good touch of the ball over the course of the game. There were a few occasions where we needed to be careful with being caught offside, but with more fixtures and practices I am sure these issues will be ironed out.

Reuben B and Monty R showed good leadership and organisational skills in charge of their sides and encouraged team cohesion. It is the first year that we have played mixed boys and girls rugby, and the girls have slotted in brilliantly to the sport.
