Match Report
Result: W 9-0
On Wednesday 21st February, St Hugh’s U9 Boys' Football Team hosted Ayscoughfee Hall. St Hugh’s adopted a red and blue team meeting the requirements from Ayscoughfee Hall.
In the Blue team, captained by Ralph, we had more players than Ayscoughfee, so agreed to provide them with two players to even up the teams. These were then rotated each quarter. We played ten minute quarters and, after winning the toss, opted to kick off. From kick off the blue team looked dangerous when on the ball. We just struggled to keep hold of it either giving it away or some really good tackling from Ayscoughfee players. The blues eventually managed to capitalise on some good passing - Freddie and Taylor saw Charlie and Ralph find some space and put away some great goals. Harry and William also had some good attempts on goal but some great goalkeeping kept these out. Ayscoughfee had a few breaks through midfield but some solid defensive efforts from Harvey, Joseph and George soon put a stop to those. The blue team started to really link up and play well together which allowed for a few more goal scoring opportunities which were finished well by Charlie and Ralph. Due to the blue team playing so well they were presented with some challenges and we saw some great passing linking well through Joseph, Jonty and Harry in the middle. Amazing effort boys! We have started to play more like a team and the results speak for themselves. Well done!
