U9 Hockey v Ranby (H) 2.00pm

On Monday afternoon St Hugh’s welcomed Ranby for their second fixture of the season. It was fantastic to see the girls in high spirits and ready for action. 

 

Red:The Red Team, made up of our U8/U9 girls, faced a strong mixed boys and girls opposition. After conceding the opening goal, the team showed great resilience and refused to let their heads drop. Nora brought the side level with a superb equaliser, confidently driving towards goal and finishing with an assured strike from the penalty spot. Eme, Valentina, Monaco, and Lucy were outstanding in defence, standing strong under pressure and keeping the team in the game. Despite going 2–1 down in the third quarter, the girls dug deep and battled back, eventually equalising in the final quarter to secure a well-deserved 2–2 draw.It was a solid and assured performance, with the team showing great determination and composure, unfazed by the challenge of playing against a mixed opposition.

 

Blue:

The blue team was made up of two teams of 6 and this allowed the girls plenty of match play and to show their peers and spectators the progress they’ve made. It was fantastic to see the girls using the width of the pitch and becoming more aware of where the ball needed to travel. When St Hugh’s had the ball there was some super dribbling and passing (all things we have been working on). It was excellent to see the skills being shown. Despite Ranby being a strong side this didn’t stop the smiles and teamwork from our girls. Towards the end of the afternoon we mixed up Ranby and St Hugh’s for some mixed hockey. It was great to see the teamwork from both schools to work towards the goal. Keep up the hard work girls!
