U9 Mixed Cricket v Highfields (H)

Match Report

Result: A team Win 307-188, U9 mixed team Lost 288-298

We welcomed Highfields on Monday afternoon for two U9 matches.  

In the A game, St Hugh’s took to the field first, demonstrating some accurate bowling and some great fielding which resulted in us taking a total of thirteen wickets! Rather than deducting -5 from the opposition, we gained these as extras this week, before going into bat giving us a total of 65 runs. We started as we meant to go on with Rory opeing the bowling and taking two wickets on the first two balls. There was a great catch from Seb as well as a number of players being bowled and run out (taken by Rory, Joshua, Edward and Alistair). 

In the second innings, St Hugh’s went into bat with confidence and despite some inexperienced bowlers we displayed good batting skills, hitting a number of 4s and a 6 from Alistair and Seb. It was great to see each pair communicating well and scoring some singles too. 

Rory & Edmund - 32 without loss

Joshua & George - 28 without loss

Seb & Edward - 41 runs without loss

Beau & Alistair - 41 runs for 1

The U9 mixed team had a very close game, losing by just 10 runs. We took 6 wickets and Highfield took 2. Annabelle was player of the match for excellent accurate bowling and finding the boundary several times. Edward R was an excellent fielder and read the game well.

They are now starting to work as a team and have all made significant progress since the start of the season.
