U9 Rugby & U8 Hockey v Tranby (H) 1.45pm

Match Report

U9 Rugby (Contact Match)

Result: W 12 - 11

What a fantastic afternoon of rugby for our U9 team as we welcomed Tranby for a competitive contact fixture.

The match was played over three 15-minute thirds, with both teams showing tremendous enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship throughout. It was a closely fought contest from start to finish, with plenty of exciting rugby and 23 tries scored between the two sides.

St Hugh’s showed some excellent running with the ball, creating space and making some superb attacking breaks. There was also some great tackling on display, with players working hard to stop Tranby’s runners and win the ball back.  Perhaps most impressive was the exceptional teamwork shown by the St Hugh’s players. They supported one another brilliantly, passed well, defended together and encouraged each other throughout the game. Every player contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable team performance.

The final score saw St Hugh’s come out 12–11 winners, but the result was only part of what was a brilliant afternoon of rugby.
A huge thank you to all the parents and supporters who created such a fantastic atmosphere from the sideline. Your encouragement and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated by the players.

U9 Touch Rugby

A try-filled game of touch rugby was played between ourselves and Tranby. There were end-to-end passages of play, with Tilly G showing a great turn of speed on numerous occasions, supported well by Toby F and also Verity E who ran in well for a try at the end of the game. Tranby were strong runners too and we found it tricky to find an effective defence, An enjoyable afternoon of rugby for players and spectators alike.

U8 Hockey

Result: 5 - 4 W

This afternoon we welcomed Tranby for the final U8 hockey match of the season. We also played an intra-school fixture.
It was fantastic to see the progress they have made throughout this half term.

The Tranby match had many highlights and moments the children should be proud of. Leo led the charge scoring 3 goals throughout the game. These were solid goals with power, determination and skill. Philippa was excellent on the pitch and her tenacity shone through ending with a super goal. The final goal of the match was scored by Dilly and the team reaction was wonderful to watch. Well done to the whole team for their team work and for representing the school.

Congratulations to Zachary for being chosen as opposition's player of the match. Huge thank you for Digby, for his support and scoring.
