U9 Rugby v Ayscoughfee Hall (A) 2.15pm
Match Report
Result: L 5-7
With the team missing some players because of cross-country at Witham, St Hugh’s U9 tag rugby team produced a good contest against Ayscoughfee. This was our first tag fixture this season and it took a while to get into the swing of things. It was only by the third or fourth quarter that we became adept at grabbing opposition tags. Reuben seemed most proficient but ably assisted by Olivia and Iona. In a slightly stop-start game we put together some good moves and tries were scored by Iona, Toby and Reuben. I was most pleased by the team’s efforts in trying to follow advice to offload the ball just before being tagged - Toby and Monty K were good proponents of this policy, as was Verity who produced one of the best timed passes of the day in a flowing move.
