U9 Rugby v Burton Hathow (A) 2.15pm

Match Report

The U9 touch team put in a dominant performance from the very first whistle today.

In the first quarter Ophelia ran with purpose and determination, and Halle sped through to find the gaps on a wide pitch. The team, bolstered by good supporting runs by Verity, captain Charlotte, Olivia and Monty K, managed to get some passing going, albeit with varying degrees of accuracy! There were still frequent runs back towards our own tryline which lost us territory too often. However, we did break through the defensive lines with regularity - Hugo continuing where he left off on Monday at Ranby to put down a few tries. A solid performance - well done all!

In the transitional contact match, the St Hugh’s team worked well together to create attacking opportunities with more emphasis this week on moving forwards and gaining ground in attack. On the touch, they became more adept at going to ground and presenting the ball, ensuring an effective body position. Georgia did a fabulous job, almost taking on a scrum half position, getting the ball out quickly and effectively. There were some super runs from Monty R, Reuben, Raphael, Toby and Tilly in the first half. Hugo joined the team for the first half and showed promising ball handling skills and movement off the ball. Halle then joined the team for the second half and made some pleasing contributions, utilising her speed when ball carrying. There were several tries scores at both ends and it was great to see the team supporting one another throughout. Well done.
