U8 Rugby

With a couple of absences today some of the Under 8 boys helped out at various times and led by example. Playing four quarters of ten minutes, everyone got a good slice of the action. There was some excellent running with the ball; Freddie, Barnes, Otto and Bertie all weaved their way through the opposition defence to score. We found tagging a little trickier and though we stemmed some attacks, we found it difficult to turnover possession in our favour. However, all the boys stuck to their tasks very well and I was extremely proud of their efforts!

U9 Rugby

Result: 40 - 30 (8 tries - 6) W

We welcomed Lincoln Minster this week for a touch game. We played four quarters with the first two being touch and the second two being touch go to ground. St Hugh’s won the toss and opted to start with the ball. We took a little while to warm up but eventually found some space to be awarded our first try. Lincoln Minster responded with some great running and scored two tries bringing a finish to the first quarter. The second quarter both teams had settled into the game and we had end to end tries - three for St Hugh’s and three also for Lincoln Minster. The third quarter St Hugh’s seemed to adapt to the touch and go to ground quicker than Lincoln Minster. This allowed St Hugh’s to pull Lincoln Minster in, creating space wide which they found and ran in three fantastic tries which brought an end to the third. The final quarter was well matched with both teams displaying some great rugby by this point. The final quarter finished with a try each.

Both teams should be immensely proud of their efforts. Well played boys.
