U9 Rugby v West Hill Park Touring Team (H) 2.15pm

Match Report

Result: D 30 - 30 (6 tries to 6)

What a fantastic afternoon of rugby for our Under 9s, as we welcomed touring side West Hill Park from Hampshire for an action-packed afternoon of rugby.

With both teams made up of a great mix of girls and boys, it was brilliant to see everyone getting involved and enjoying their rugby. The afternoon was structured around three 10-minute thirds, allowing the players to gradually progress through different levels of contact.

We began with touch go to ground, giving the children the opportunity to focus on passing, support play, finding space and moving the ball quickly. We then progressed to allowing a quick offload, before finishing with full tackle/grab-tackle rugby. This progression gave the players a fantastic opportunity to develop their skills and confidence as the afternoon went on.

There was some fantastic rugby played by both sides, with plenty of tries scored and some excellent examples of teamwork, running, passing and support play. Most importantly, the players embraced every stage of the afternoon and showed just how much they had developed from the opening touch games through to the final contact period.

A huge well done to all the players involved. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, with both teams playing in exactly the right spirit and showing great enthusiasm throughout. Well done to everyone involved!
