Green Team:
Result: Won by 4 overs
The U9 Green team lost the toss and Ayscoughfee opted to bat first. Our opening pair Freddie and Bertie (captain) started strong with some really great bowling taking a number of wickets from Ayscoughfee’s opening pair. St Hugh’s continued with some great partnerships between bowling and keeping wicket. Eme and Flo bowled well to keep the run rate down. A few runs were given away in the fielding through over throws and not backing up, but lots of learning was taken from this first fixture. Ayscoughfee finished their batting innings with a respectable 284.
St Hugh’s Green team stepped into bat to chase down Ayscoughfee’s score. We started out slowly until players had found their feet. Ottilie and Monty R connected with some great shots to keep the St Hugh’s score ticking over. Nora and Halle batted well, finding space in the field. Barnes and Bertie finished the batting innings for St Hugh’s Green team in style hitting the boundary for a high scoring final over. Unfortunately due to being tight for time some of our batting pairs only received 1 over, but they made the most of this by scoring lots of runs for their team. Taking into account the missing overs St Hugh’s Greens were awarded the win by four overs. Well played to everyone involved, fantastic team effort.
