Viking Day!
The day started with a storied timeline by Bjorn. This included Viking explorers, raiders, traders andi invaders. We then completed an interactive quiz on all aspects of Viking lives. The children played Hnefatafl, a traditional board game similar to tic-tac-toe, slightly more complex.
Before lunch we looked at some Viking replica artefacts, including a drinking horn, an ornate bracelet ring, a comb made from antler and a grooming kit. Did you know they used a bone spoon to clean their inner ears?
We saved the best till last, Viking weapon and warfare. The finale was recreating the Battle of Hastings.
