Year 3 Church Visit
As part of their RE lessons, Year 3 visited the church in Woodhall Spa to explore this term’s topic of belonging. We were welcomed by Sally, who helped the children discover more about the church and its significance within the local community.
After spending a few minutes exploring the church, the children took part in a question-and-answer session with Sally. They looked at different features and objects within the church that help people feel a sense of belonging, including the baptism font, where Christians are welcomed into the Church family, and other important features that bring the congregation together.
During their RE lessons, the children had made their own baptism candles, which they were delighted to gift to Sally during the visit. Sally blessed the candles before placing them on the altar.
The children really enjoyed bringing their learning to life and exploring what belonging means within a church community. We will also be looking out for the monthly Light of the Door article, where the Year 3 baptism candles are due to be featured!
