Year 5 Rivers Trip

The class travelled to Snipe Dales Country Park & Nature Reserve to find the source of the River Lymn, which then flows into the River Steeping, whose mouth empties into the North Sea at Gibraltar Point. The children were able to see first hand the features of the river and ordered them as they walked along its banks. At a confluence, the children were able to complete a river survey using the kick-sampling technique.

After lunch, everyone headed to Gibraltar Point to look at the river at its mouth. Having now become the River Steeping, it meanders to The Wash. We were fortunate to have some lovely weather, and even saw some seals in the distance.

Thank you to all the team at Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust for making the day so informative but fun!
