Result: Winners - Coco and Olivia
The Year 7’s enjoyed our very first Padel competition, played at Spa Padel, on Wednesday afternoon. With the Year 8’s in Ullswater all week, it was a good opportunity to do something a little different! With two courts in action, we had a beginner and intermediate round robin doubles tournament. Players in the Intermediate competition had had some previous experience of this fast growing sport through our Padel hobby, whilst our beginners took to the court for the very first time.
We got hooked up to the bluetooth sound system to get warmed up and then proceeded with match play following a quick overview of the rules and the format. There was some super play on display, especially given the limited experience! It was Coco and Olivia who finished as winners, who enjoyed their galaxy chocolate prize, kindly offered by owner, Kerry. Kerry is a former pupil of St Hugh’s so it has been great to form this connection with Spa Padel. We look forward to developing our link next year when we hope to arrange some fixtures for our Senior pupils.
