Senior Field Meet @ Oakham
Match Report
Monday 11th May we travelled once again to Oakham School, this time for the field events meet. We had a number of Year 8 and Year 7 students representing the school as well as 1 Year 6, George C who was competing in both the long and high jump events. Even though this was a field meet we began the day with some track where we had a number of students competing in both the sprint hurdles and the 1200m. St Hugh’s pupils continued to impress with a number of second place finishes, whilst also showing great character by students stepping in to represent the school in events that may not necessarily be their best event. The day progressed through a series of 5 sessions with athletes competing in; High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put and Javelin. St Hugh’s continued to have some great performances across the different disciplines. Unfortunately time did run away and we had to make the difficult decision to miss the finale which was the 4x100m relays. This however did not dampen a fantastic afternoon of sporting achievements for the St Hugh’s athletes where the Year 7’s finished 2nd overall and the Year 8’s finished 4th.
