St. Hugh's School to Join the Repton Family of Schools

We are pleased to share details about the exciting new partnership between St. Hugh's School and the Repton Family of Schools in 2025. This document outlines the vision behind the merger, the benefits it will bring, and what it means for the future of our school community.

A Partnership for the Future

This merger is a forward-thinking collaboration designed to respond to the opportunities of the 21st century while preserving the unique character and values of St. Hugh's. The decision was driven by a shared educational and pastoral ethos between the two institutions, which prioritises the development of each child's individual talents.

The partnership aims to:

  • Strengthen and Secure the Future: By joining a larger, well-established group, St. Hugh's can navigate the challenges facing the independent schools sector, securing its future for generations to come.

  • Enhance Educational Opportunities: Pupils will benefit from collaboration with specialists across the global Repton network, broadening their horizons both academically and in co-curricular activities.

  • Share Resources and Expertise: The merger will allow for shared resources, promoting operational efficiencies and providing enhanced training and development opportunities for staff.

What Will Stay the Same?

It is a priority for both schools that St. Hugh's retains its unique identity and character. The following will remain unchanged:

  • Leadership: The Head, Mr. Jeremy Wyld, and his senior leadership team will continue to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the school. The St. Hugh's Governing Body will also remain largely in place, bolstered by additional expertise from the Repton family.

  • Location and Ethos: St. Hugh's will continue to operate as an outstanding day and boarding co-educational prep school on its campus in Woodhall Spa. The caring, family atmosphere and core values will be preserved.

  • Senior School Choice: Parents will retain absolute freedom to choose any senior school for their child. The school will continue to provide objective advice on the best next step for each individual.

  • School Fees: The fee structure will remain in line with the St. Hugh's Governing Body’s existing recommendations.

  • Accreditation: The school will maintain its own Department for Education registration, ISI inspection regime, and membership of the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS).
