Sport Information
From Year 3 upwards, your child will be involved in fixtures against other schools, both home and away. These fixtures are published in the termly school calendar and on the website. Most fixtures are on Wednesdays though certain regional and national tournaments we enter may be on other days and occasionally at weekends, particularly if they are hosted by senior schools. Parental support is strongly encouraged.
Team Lists
Team lists can be viewed by clicking on the calendar entry on the website. Paper copies are also produced for pupils to view and can be found on the team noticeboard outside the Pavilion (opposite the swimming pool entrance). Swimming team sheets will be displayed on the swimming noticeboard outside the pool. Pupils are encouraged to take responsibility and check the boards on a Monday. All team sheets have the postcode of the venue in case you would like to support and also the anticipated return time to school in case you are unable to attend.
Team Kit
Kit for school matches is usually provided (and washed) by the school. If it is an away match, your child will need their red bag. They will usually change before departure and this will be indicated on the team sheet. Players will change back into uniform for home matches. If you collect your child from an away match, please ensure match kit is returned to laundry no later than 8.30am the following day.
Team Selection
'A' teams are selected purely on merit. All other teams are selected to ensure that every child gets a reasonable number of opportunities each term to represent the school. All children from Year 3 upwards will also be involved in set matches each term. If you have any questions please contact Mrs K Felton, Director of sport (games@st-hughs.lincs.sch.uk).
Home matches
After home matches, your child should stay for match tea, eating, and more importantly, socialising with the opposition. Refreshments for parents are provided in the school pavilion. Home matches, unless otherwise indicated, start at 2.30pm and your child should normally be able to go home at 4.15pm. The only exception to this is cricket for Year 5 upwards when matches can take considerably longer.
Away matches
Pupils travel to and from away matches by mini-bus. Parents may collect from the away venue however all players are expected to attend match teas. An approximate return time will be give on the website. Please seek permission from the Headmaster if your child is unable to stay for match teas.
