Lloyds Tour of Britain
We were very excited to take the short walk into the village to cheer on the cyclists competing in the Lloyds Tour of Britain as it made its way through Woodhall Spa. It was wonderful to see the pavements lined with supporters and soak up the atmosphere.
Thank you to Ottilie, Year 5, for her fabulous recount of the morning. Mrs Stevenson was very impressed with your work.
Thursday 3rd September
The day the tour of Britain came to town
Adrenaline was filling the air as our school all walked down the pavements. Everyone was chatting because of the wonder of what was about to come next. As soon as we were at the pavement the bingo sheets were getting filled in. And anticipation was starting to take over the town. Suddenly a burst of sound and lights came flooding through the high street. As police cars came down honking and flashing with policemen waving and cheering. But to our surprise they weren’t the only ones as they were closely followed behind by police motor-bikes. The policemen riding them were waving, high fiving and one even did no hands! We were all very impressed but that’s when the four leader bikers came biking through the street. We all went CRAZY! There was frantic waving as they passed. A few moments later a whole peloton of rider passed. We then started walking home after a busy morning.
Our red blazers could even be spotted on the official footage with the commentators mentioning how smart we all looked!
