St Hugh’s Mixed U13 Development Hockey
Match Report
Result: W 3-2
On Saturday 28th February St Hugh’s fielded a Mixed U13 Development Team at short notice in order to provide an opposition for Lindum Hockey Club’s Development side.
A Development Team is a junior side but with a couple of adults to help provide some advice and structure to the game.
Joshua N was in goal. Sam, Coco, Mrs Stevenson and Mr Goodhand rotated in defence. The midfield rhombus was Lilian, Emily, Joshua F and Rory P. The forward line consisted of Rory S, Edward, Noah and old boy Euan.
Ex-pupil Max played for Lindum as did ex-staff member Mr Hillsmith.
It was a well matched game as both teams used the space available on a full size pitch. In the first half the only goal was scored by Max as he put the ball between Joshua’s legs.
In the second half Rory P equalised with a reverse stick hit into the net and then soon scored a second from a lovely sweep at the back post. Lindum equalised by a firmly struck shot. St Hugh’s scored a third as Edward lifted the ball over the keeper into the net. With some wiley game management we were able to secure a 3-2 win.
After the game pizzas were consumed and Joshua F and Rory P declared Men of the Match. The commitment to a Saturday afternoon fixture was well worth it as both pupils and parents enjoyed the spectacle.
