Match Report

Result:  U11A v Witham B 6-1 W

What a fantastic performance this week! On a large pitch we used the full expanse of the playing area to great effect throughout the game. No-one held onto the ball for too long and passes were made carefully, and frequently with attacking intent. Callan pulled off some great saves in goal, Seb and Edward R read the game brilliantly at the back and when our goal was seriously threatened they both tracked back superbly. In the midfield, Beau was dynamic and proved what a great engine he has with his non-stop energy. Alastair intercepted well and had the vision to set up new attacks, Gio flew up and down the wing to devastating effect, and George P provided some of his trademark classy passes. Up front, Rory P led the line well, pressurising their defence and latching onto through balls. All in all, the team’s patterns of play were beautifully coherent and it was a joy to watch, even eliciting some complimentary comments from opposing players during the match - which reflected the lovely spirit the game was played in. Goals came from many different members of the team, highlighting our multi-pronged attack, and despite hitting the woodwork about 57 times, Beau eventually bagged a well-deserved goal in the second half!

Result: U11B v Witham C 3-0 W

This was an open and exciting game where we played our best football of the season so far.  Although the first half ended goalless, we did create a number of chances, but just needed some extra power behind our shots.  Edward J dominated from the back and made a number of impressive forward runs. Edward P and Paul made some good interceptions and Paul came closest to scoring, latching on to a good cross and being denied by the goalkeeper. Miles and Joshua F were effective on the wing and Joshua M caused problems up front.
At half time Henry came out of goal and went up front and Miles took over as goalkeeper.
After 5 minutes in the second half the deadlock was broken with a powerful shot from the Witham Hall defender, unfortunately for them it was in his own goal!  Henry E, having taken the Harry Kane role, was twice left with only the keeper to beat and slotted home expertly both times ... cue goal celebration taken straight from the premier league.
A great performance!
