Result: LMS 266 St Hugh’s 298
Lincoln Minster batted first in this 20 over pairs match. Rory P and Seb both restricted the run flow with some very accurate bowling and both bagged a wicket each. Meanwhile, Faith produced a stunning piece of fielding at cover, picking up quickly and running a batter out with a direct hit. George P and Josh F continued the tight bowling, with George picking up a wicket too. April and Beau were similarly mean, and they too grabbed a wicket each. Additional wickets were picked up during Faith and Edward R’s overs. Despite their final pair not losing a wicket, we kept them down to just 266 - it was a really impressive display of careful bowling and fielding all round!
Our batting followed a similar vein. We were careful to protect our wicket - a key target after a few of our performances earlier in the season - and so had a relatively straightforward run chase. Some crisp boundaries were scored by April, Seb, Alastair, George P and Rory, but the innings was most notable for its good communication between the pairs throughout. We finished on 298, pleased with a win under our belt and a super team performance.
