Match Report
Result: Ranby 134-4, SHS 74-7
Bowling first Rory P and Seb managed to restrict Ranby in the opening overs, with Seb picking up a wicket to boot, albeit a little fortuitously via an inside edge. Then their 2 and 3 batters got their eye in and clobbered the ball around a bit, both reaching 30 and retiring. It was good to see some sharp fielding this week - catches were snapped up, runs were cut off and four different bowlers picked up wickets (as well as Seb, Josh, Faith and Verity all made breakthroughs). However, the bowling became a little scruffy as the innings went on, with too many deliveries straying down the legside.
It was to be a tall order trying to reach their total of 134 from 20 overs, but Faith and George P saw off the nippy opening attack admirably until the former was bowled. Struggling to get runs on the board, Rory P tried to hurry the pace up, but in doing so ended up offering a catch to midwicket. Their consistent bowling attack proceeded to skittle down the stumps fairly regularly, though through it all George P stood firm and carried his bat with a defiant 16 not out!
