Match Report

A Team

Result:  D 4-4

The girls travelled to Tranby on Wednesday afternoon, it was a lovely afternoon with some great hockey being played. The girls were quite dominant in the first quarter with lots of possession and Harriet scored. In the second quarter Tranby had most of the possession with them scoring 2 goals. The girls kept their heads up and had some great tactics on how to improve for the second half. Third-quarter was quite even between the teams with Harriet scoring. The final quarter was great to watch. The girls had some great passages of play in and around the goal with Florence B having a great chance on the back post but sadly missing. Tranby scored twice in this quarter but the girls kept on trying and Harriet scored again earning her a hat-trick for the game. In the last minutes of the game the girls had another chance with Florence B on the back post and this time scored.

It was a great match to watch with every girl working and playing extremely hard. Fantastic effort girls.

B Team

Result:  4-2 W

The B team was made up of 10 girls. We played 8 aside and 2 girls each quarter played for Tranby. It was fantastic to see the team spirit and willingness to help the other team out with players. The game started strong and St Hugh’s were on the attack. Moving quickly down the pitch with speed and determination we had an early goal from Maddie. Defense was strong with lots of low sweeps to send the ball far and wide. Willow made a fantastic drive to goal, manoeuvring past many defenders to get to the D. With a sweep she scored a goal and by half time we were 2 goals up. Moving into the second half despite tired legs the girls pushed on with their attack. Utilising the whole pitch and working to pass the ball ahead of the play with the help of another player Emilia beautifully tapped the ball in to secure a third goal for St Hugh’s. Tranby fought back and scored 2 good goals. In the final few minutes Bella, who was in defense saw the space and made a terrific drive down the length of the pitch. She finished off her efforts with a final goal ending the score 4-2 to St Hugh’s. Overall the team effort was fantastic, the girls should be incredibly proud of the performance they put out.

Huge congratulations to Libby (star defender) for getting opposition's player of the match.
