U11 & U13 IAPS Swimming Qualifier @ Repton

Match Report

It was a great afternoon at Repton Swimming Centre on Monday for the IAPS Qualifier. This year, we saw a large cohort of 21 pupils competing, our biggest ever appearance! This is something I am very proud of given that the cohort size for U11&U13 combined is 63! This included an U13 Girls 4x25m Freestyle Relay team (made up of three U12’s and one U13 swimmer), both a Boys and Girls Small Schools 8x25m Freestyle Relay team (made up of 8 swimmers single gender) as well as 7 individual entries.

It was an epic performance by the St Hugh’s Swim Team who swam very competitively against some large schools with established swimming programmes. This included Repton themselves as well as Stamford, Sedbergh, Trent College, The Elms, Witham Hall, Fairfield Prep and Leicester Grammar.

Competition was fierce but St Hugh’s were very much in the mix with a number of 1st and 2nd place positions which can be seen in the provisional results sent by Repton.  Those competing in individual events did themselves proud, competing against a strong field of swimmers.

Our relay teams performed exceptionally well and we now wait for official results to see whether we have made the cut for the National Finals at the London Aquatics Centre on Saturday 6th June 2026 (save the date!).

Well done, team St Hugh’s! A special mention to Eme B who competed a year young and smashed her 50m Freestyle race! We look forward to seeing how she performs next year as an U10. Also, to the four senior girls, who were given the option to compete and made a decision together to put themselves forward. A great attitude and example.
