Match 2 5-6 L

The St Hugh’s Navy team played so well against Highfields, it was so nice to see them working together as a team. They used their knowledge on how to get the ball up the court from the defensive circle to their attacking circle, with tallulah, April and coco scoring most of our goals! The defence during this game was excellent, seeing interceptions being made across the court from Coco, Olivia A, Florence and Maddie. Our mid court play was also very good, seeing the girls use their overhead passes to accurately pass over the arms of their opponents. The movement in the circle from Hetty and Verity was superb, it was good to see them driving their defenders out the circle to make space for the forward drive near the post. It’s been a great term of Netball and the girls have made so much progress, it was great to watch! Well done girls!

The weather was glorious for our final home match of the season. This week we played Highfields and the girls were split into two mixed teams. It was fantastic to see the progress and team work on court. The team played two half games and had some outstanding moments. Annabelle was on fire in defence, blocking balls and turning over a high number. In the first match Tara, Harriet, Genevieve and Emily managed to score 8 goals between them. This put St Hugh’s into a healthy lead and allowed for the girls to settle into their roles on court. In the second game Annabelle, Rosie and Faith scored 5 with some lovely passes from Olivia B. The ball moved at speed down the court and the team worked well moving towards the ball and creating depth in passes. Harriet and Genevieve had some fantastic athleticism to support the team on court. The first game ended 8-0W and the second a close 5-6L. A wonderful afternoon and superb progress this season. It has been a pleasure to coach you! Congratulations to Harriet who was awarded player of the afternoon from Highfields.
