U11 S. Anselms Hockey Festival (A)

We travelled to hilly Derbyshire for our first U11 hockey matches of the season. THere were six teams in the festival so we played five 10 minute matches in total.
Our first match was against Denstone Prep School and it proved to be very tight. We had a few chances to shoot on goal but were perhaps a little guilty of passing rather than shooting. We conceded the only goal with only a couple of minutes left. The second match against Ryleys School was end to end with Alistair making some good saves in goal and Rory, Seb, Josh F and Beau making some excellent attacks. After going 1-0 down Rory scored a well taken goal. Unfortunately we again conceded in the last minute to go down 2-1.
The next two matches were pretty difficult with both St Anselm’s and Ranby House having some very skillful players and there were some quite scary shots flying towards our goal. Despite this both Miles and George P, and Alistair in goal made some excellent defensive and goal keeping stops.
We finished on a high with a 2-0 win against St Anselm’s B team with Goals from George P and Rory. A valuable experience and some very encouraging signs. Well done boys!
