Report

It was a super afternoon at the Stamford U11 Netball Festival on Wednesday. As our first outing of the season it was a great opportunity to play short matches against a good number of schools.

St Hugh's , captained by Helena F, achieved four wins and a draw with nineteen goals being scored across five ten minute games.  Well done to Beth, Annabel, Ruby and Penny who contributed to the scoreline. Beth was the top goal scorer this week with some fabulous shooting. The festival format allowed the girls to experience different positions on court, which is important for their development as an all round player.

St Hugh's started frantically and were encouraged to slow down and make use of their three seconds on the ball.  As the afternoon progressed, St Hugh's began to transition the ball up court with greater effect and this resulted in less errors and turnovers. There were some super interceptions by Helena and Holly when the ball did reach our defensive third. Our centre court players were initially quite static when receiving the ball but this improved and they began to hold their opponent before cutting for the ball.

A great team effort! Well done.
