U11/12 Hardball Cricket v Witham (A)
Match Report
Result: Won 348-220
With the Y8s away at Uppingham an U12 team of Y7s and Y6s travelled to Witham. We bowled and fielded impressively with everybody picking up at least one wicket from their overs; highlights being Noah’s two wickets in two balls, and Rory S’s stunning catch at the square leg boundary.
With a low total to chase we were perhaps a little over-confident in the first few overs where we lost five wickets to a variety of causes: run-outs, bowled playing across the line, bowled to a low bouncing ball, caught at cover. After that Rory S steadied the ship and together with Noah put on enough runs to pass their total. Subsequent pairs did their bit too - captain Josh played sensibly with Jude, George and Edward B communicated really well and ran opportunistically, as did the final pair of Sam H and James F. It was comfortable in the end - well played boys!
