U13 ECB Boys’ Indoor Softball Final @ Nocton
The boys played the final of the county indoor U13 cup at Nocton sports hall against SJN school from Brigg. We were asked to bat first and Josh N and Rory S soon discovered that it was not going to be easy as the ball did not bounce as much as they were used to. We started slowly, unsure of when to take singles as the wicket was close to the back wall. Both openers retired on 15 and Rory P, James and Edward ran well and scrambled as many as they could. We finished on 73 -3 after 8 overs.
When we bowled, SJN kept up with the asking rate but did lose wickets steadily. Rory and Sam bowled tightly and then the spinners George P and Josh N picked up wickets and run outs meaning SJN needed 11 off the last over but only had 2 wickets left. Quick thinking by our fielders led to run outs off the first 2 balls of Sam's last over, meaning a win by 10 runs and St Hugh’s being county champions!!
