Team A

Result: Won St Hugh’s 46 - 0

Lincoln Minster 43 - 10

St Hugh’s U13A Cricket team welcomed Lincoln Minster this week. Euan greeted the team and following the toss opted to field allowing Lincoln Minster to set the target. St Hugh’s bowled exceptionally well, which made things difficult for Lincoln Minster batting. The first wickets were taken by Will and Sam with some strong keeping from Joshua.Lincoln Minster started to clock up some runs but the bowling continued to cause Minster problems. Sam soon took his second wicket and then another two quickly followed from Euan. This seemed to unsettle Lincoln Minster and wickets were taken by; Max, George and a further two by Euan. Lincoln Minster's last two batsmen began to build a nice partnership then Charles bowled a great ball which was caught by Toby, bringing Lincoln Minster’s innings to a close with 43. St Hugh’s batsman took to the field headed by Will and Joshua, they were both retired achieving a strong partnership of 25. Toby and Rupert then stepped in both batting really well they closed the game with a partnership of 10. A fantastic 6 from Toby saw St Hugh’s achieve 46 for 0 wickets off 7.2 overs. Well played to all involved.

Team B

Result: Won 107-3 v 75-10

Fergus cheekily managed to psych out the opposition to win rock paper scissors and we chose to put the opposition in to bat and for St Hugh’s to field first.
Each pair had four overs and we rotated all our players to bowl and wicket keep.
Minster’s first pair scored 22 for 1, pair two scored 40 without loss, pair three scored 2 for 5 and the final pair scored 11 for 4.
After many dropped catches James held our first off Noah’s bowling before he took a caught and bowled, two balls later he bowled the batter.  Fergus also took two wickets in an over with a catch by William C and bowling the batter.  Edward took a wicket bowled and Jude two in two balls both caught by Alicia and Edward respectively.  Noah also took a wicket bowled in their final over.
Very similar to our final pair the day before, swooshing out with the bat cost wickets and didn’t help gain runs for the cause.  They set a score of 75 for the loss of 10 wickets.

William and Noah opened our reply scoring 21 for 1 with William scoring 4 fours and Noah 1 four.
James and Edward scored 28 for 1 from their 4 overs.  James scored a 4 and 6 in consecutive balls and Edward also hit a 4.  Fergus was sub fielder for Minster and took a catch for them!
Alicia and Fergus then batted and scored 20 for 1; Fergus was bowled but hit a 4 too; lots of singles were run as the ball was dabbed around the gaps in the field.
Jude and William C were our last pair and they scored 48 without loss.  William hit three consecutive 6s in one over; one was one of the most sublime backhand strokes you’ll ever see! He also hit 4 fours across the 4 overs.
St Hugh’s scored 107 for 3.  Man of the Match was William C.
