U13 Hockey v Bourne GS (H) 2.15pm
Match Report
Result: Won 3-1
Our final home game of the girls’ hockey season was against a new opposition of Bourne Grammar School. They arrived with 14 girls, including two goal keepers, so they played as two separate teams in the 1st and 3rd quarter or the 2nd and 4th quarter.
The first quarter was a well fought 10 minutes with St Hugh’s generally on top but without managing to score against a quality goalkeeper.
In the second quarter after a further amount of opportunities Tabitha finally got one over the line. Half time was 1-0 to St. Hugh’s.
Mrs Stevenson was the coach for the day and kept the forwards rotating regularly and was encouraging a wide passing game.
In the third quarter Agatha made a superb save coming off her line in order to keep our noses ahead. Lulu, Coco and Olivia were marshalling the defence. Midfield was Tabitha, Emily & Eliza. The wingers were Lilian, Tallulah, Camilla and Genevieve.
St. Hugh’s second goal of the day was due to Tallulah’s perseverance and determination to keep battling for the ball. She took it from one D to the other D before providing the pass for Tabitha to slot home.
The final goal with just over a minute left on the clock was to Tabitha who completed her hat-trick.
A 3-0 home win was a fair reflection of a strong TEAM performance.
Girl of the Game was Tabitha.
