U13 Rugby v Boston RFC (A) 7.00pm
Match Report
Result: L 50 - 10 (10 tries to 2)
Now the time has come to face the final curtain. The final game of the season saw our U13 boys travel to Boston Rugby Club. For some this would be the last game in the red and blue of St Hugh’s. We travelled with high spirits aided by Mr Shaw’s banging tunes. On arrival the players were excited to see the pitch lit up ahead of the fixture, we warmed up well and it was time to kick off. The rugby was impressive to watch, both teams throwing everything into the contest. Boston were physically larger in size so dominated the scrums. This gave them a strong platform to run in a few early scores. St Hugh’s didn’t let this deter them and continued to play with immense heart. In the second half the scrums were uncontested and this provided St Hugh’s with some good set piece to build upon, and this they did. Resulting in two scores for Rory S and there could have been a few more for other players too. St Hugh’s played some fantastic phases of rugby but were unable to convert these into points. The final whistle went following a crunching tackle from Sam H who has led from the front as captain this season.
All the players in this team have represented themselves and the school exceptionally well and this has made me tremendously proud of what they have achieved. Thank you all and a very Merry Christmas.
