U13 Rugby v De Aston (A) 2.15pm

Match Report

Result: L 45 - 5 (9 tries to 1)

The tailend of the season took us to De Aston School, or Market Rasen rugby club which is a home from home for all of our year 7 boys. De Aston had a large squad so split into two teams with one playing against St Hugh’s in the first half and the other team in the second half. The game got underway and it was not long until the first try of the game was scored, this went to De Aston. St Hugh’s played some good rugby in parts but were unable to convert this to points. A few loose balls and stray kicks saw De Aston run in a couple more tries before St Hugh's managed to get on the score card. Some good running and offloads, making use of the wide pitch Rory S managed to dot down in the corner for St Hugh’s first score of the afternoon. St Hugh’s went into the second half 5 tries to 1 down, which was still achievable for this squad of players. With fresh legs De Aston too made the most of the width, running across the field to then go up the wing to add a few more scores to their tally. St Hugh’s continued valiantly moving the ball through the hands slowly edging up the field. Wanting the points faster we forced some passes and continued to give the ball away by kicking it. De Aston with possession now made the most of it and wrapped the game up well. Some difficult lessons learnt by St Hugh’s today, but it was fantastic to have the full complement out playing alongside one another.

Thank you for your efforts boys.
