Match Report

Result: 65 - 0 (13 tries - 0)

Following a quiet week last week we travelled to De Aston in good spirits and welcomed back Rupert to the squad. We agreed to play four quarters allowing us to make changes and do a little bit of coaching in between. The first quarter the boys hit the ground running. Tries quickly coming through Toby, Edward, Charles, Toby and the final one for the quarter was Charles again. The boys carried the ball through the collision well and De Aston struggled to keep hold of the St Hugh’s boys. Following a few changes we took to the field for the second quarter. The boys were challenged to focus on the catch pass and moving the ball wide through the hands. The response to this was fantastic the boys scored two well worked tries both coming from the wingers, Jude and George. Rupert announced his comeback to rugby by dotting down another just before the whistle went for the second quarter. Further changes and the team were challenged with tidying up the breakdown area to ensure the back could get clean ball. This quarter was much better managed by the boys and Rupert at scrum half got plenty of clean ball which allowed him to get over the line a further two times. Joining him on the try tally was Max and Sam. The St Hugh’s boys were playing so well that we decided to give them one last challenge for the afternoon. The final quarter we mixed up the teams with De Aston and it was a really well matched quarter with both taking a lot from it. The result in this final stage speaks volumes as only one try was scored which went to Toby. A great, albeit very muddy afternoon of rugby. Well done to all the boys involved.
