U13 Rugby v Spalding Grammar School (H) 2.15pm

This week we welcomed Spalding Grammar School to St Hugh’s for our first home fixture of the season. We agreed with Spalding to play 10 aside with 3 man scrums over 10 minute quarters. Spalding won the toss and opted to receive the kick off. Both teams started slowly whilst they were finding their feet. Spalding were first to break St Hugh’s line and went through for the first score of the game. St Hugh’s looked close to responding with some great offloads and lines of running but were unable to finish. We went into the second quarter with all to play for and both teams seemed well matched. A couple of early errors by St Hugh’s saw Spalding gain a couple more tries before the half term whistle. Both teams were playing really well, but needed to look at the ball better in contact. Into the second half St Hugh’s had some great carries through; Rory S, Jude DC, Rory P, Josh F and Josh N but they still could not quite get to the Spalding goal line. Spalding managed to gain a few more break away tries before the final whistle. Well played to all boys involved the result aside the boys gave their all which was immensely pleasing to see.

The player of the match voted for by the team was Rory P. Congratulations!
