U13 Rugby v Stamford (A) 2.30pm

Match Report

Result:  L 40 - 0 (8 tries - 0)

Mixed teams 20 - 15 (4 tries - 3)

We arrived at a cold and wintry Stamford on Wednesday afternoon. Following our warm up we made our way to Stamford top field which seemed to be even colder. We kicked off and Stamford ran some good lines to cut through our defence, not taking long to get over for the first try of the afternoon. Stamford continued to pile on the pressure whilst also giving away numerous penalties due to poor discipline, which gave St Hugh’s some good field position. Unfortunately we were unable to capitalise and turn this into points. Stamford ran in a few more scores before the end of the half. The weather was far from ideal and St Hugh’s were feeling it, so we made the right decision to mix up both teams for the second half so that they could get more from the experience. This provided a much better opportunity for both teams, Stamford and St Hugh’s played well alongside each other which was great to see. Both teams recycled the ball and moved through the hands producing some great tries for an evenly matched contest.

Well played to all involved, it was cold but you showed up with some great strength of character and stuck with it. Thank you.
