U13 Rugby v Tranby (A) 4.00pm

We travelled north and over the Humber bridge to Tranby this week. The U13 boys were understandably disappointed by the result last week, but were excited to bounce back. Tranby were strong in numbers, so we agreed to play 3 3rds to allow them to rotate all their players some game time. St Hugh’s kicked off and it was not long until Tranby broke our line and went in for the first score. St Hugh’s dusted themselves off to get back in the game, but due to some missed tackles and loose ball Tranby capitalised with another 2 quick scores. Impressively heads did not drop and through some fantastic rucking St Hugh’s were able to retain possession. This provided opportunities, and it was not long till Rory S made the most of his opportunity and went through for our first score. Belief in the team began to bubble. The workrate increased and this provided more opportunities, another for Rory S as he danced through the back line. Some great hands down the line saw Joshua N go in for his first. Confidence grew and St Hugh’s started to get creative, like a kick over the top from Sam that bounced nicely for Joshua N. We were now in the lead, a little complacency however and Tranby were back in it with another score. George had been running well with the ball all afternoon and was eventually rewarded when he skipped through to take the lead back for St Hugh’s. Not long left in the final third and Tranby did a full team change, lots of fresh legs. St Hugh’s had to dig deep if they wanted the result. A spilled ball by Tranby scooped up by Rory S and he went through to gain the final try of the game. A fantastic game of rugby displayed by both teams and a great result for the St Hugh’s boys. Well played everyone
