Match Report

Result: L (10 - 25)

St Hugh’s U13 opened their campaign with a trip over the Humber bridge to Tranby. We were full of excitement to get the season started, but knew that this game would be an opportunity to learn and look at how we linked up as a team. It had been raining on and off all day which made the ball pretty greasy and handling difficult. A couple of early handling errors by St Hugh’s saw Tranby go ahead by two tries. The St Hugh’s boys turned over some quick ball in the rucks and both Max and Charlie, with some strong running, were able to capitalise on this and get over the try line. The game was thrilling in parts, the only difference being the little mistakes made by both teams. Unfortunately, we missed a few tackles and some strong carries from Tranby saw them get a couple more tries pulling them away from us on the scoreboard. The St Hugh’s boys played right up to the whistle which was pleasing to see. As a team, a lot was learnt from the game and the boys performed well. A few things to work on ahead of our next fixture. Well done to all the players and thank you to the strong travelling support. We look forward to an exciting season together.
