Match Report

Result: 10 - 30 (2 tries - 6) L

Wednesday saw the U13 Boys rugby team back in action. We travelled to Wisbech Grammar School where they took to a very foggy pitch. The first half was a belter! St Hugh’s boys played phenomenally well, but a few handling errors saw us concede three tries quite swiftly. Seeing this as a challenge the boys started to tighten things up and dominated the breakdowns and the scrums which gave us plenty of ball. We just needed to look after it better and convert it to points. Thankfully off of a great turnover the St Hugh’s boys spread the ball wide where Joshua was lurking and he managed to get over the white wash for our first points. Not long after this a strong carry by Max saw him go crashing across the line for our second taking us into half time. The second half we started strong again, continuing with the momentum we had built up in the first half. The boys worked immensely hard getting around the pitch and supporting each other. Unfortunately we could not convert the effort into points and some loose opportunities were taken well by Wisbech and they bundled over our try line for a few more before the final whistle. Credit to St Hugh’s boys they played with a lot of heart and they should certainly be proud of their achievements as individuals, but also as a team. Looking forward to wrapping up the season with a great group of players at Boston RFC next week. Well done boys.
