U13 Rugby v Worksop (A) 2.15pm
We travelled to Worksop College to open our senior rugby account for the season. The boys had trained well the last two weeks but we still only had 3 training sessions under our belts. We agreed to play 4 x 10 minute quarters to allow for a bit of coaching and development to take place in between and Worksop kindly gave St Hugh’s 2 players allowing more boys more game time. Worksop came out very strong in the first quarter taking a convincing lead. St Hugh’s seemed unable to break through and never made it into the Worksop’s half. The second quarter was a totally different story, St Hugh’s had a lot of possession and broke the Worksop line allowing tries for Sam (captain) and Rory P. Going into the third quarter St Hugh’s building in work rate and confidence managed a few more well worked tries through Rory S, Rory P and Sam. In the final quarter St Hugh’s managed to hold onto the one try lead with some great tackling and rucking, making it difficult for Worksop to find any momentum. Last play of the match Worksop had a scrum on the St Hugh’s 5 metre line. St Hugh’s won the ball and sent it into touch. Great first result for our senior boys rugby team. Well done to everyone involved, amazing effort.
