Match Reports

U13A Team

Result: W 241-238

Fantastic first fixture from the A softball team. The team opted to field first, and showed some great fielding and bowling 11 wickets collectively as a team, each pair successfully finding the wicket. The team stayed focused in fielding, backing each other up and keeping Worksop to a low score.

Next up to bat and the team were faced with very strong bowling from Worksop, but they kept taking the opportunities with good communication and taking the extra runs on any wides, successfully hitting the boundary for 4s and 6s. Worksop were tight on their fielding but St Hugh’s kept working hard in the final over taking the lead by three wins.

Collective team effort from all the players, well done everyone!

Opposition Player: Megan

U13 B Team

Result: Lost by 28 runs. 115-7 v 143-3

The softball B team played on the astro and we batted first.

Our first pair of Amelie and Ela, having lost a wicket to the 2nd ball of the day, then staged a great fight back and hit five 4s, four of them by Amelie, to finish 28 for one from their four overs.

Joseph and William were in next and they did not lose a single wicket. This allowed them to score 34 runs with both players hitting four runs.

Kitty and Peyton came in and after a quiet first over they then hit 30 runs for the loss of one wicket. Kitty hit three 4s and Peyton two.

Grace and Lucia scored 13 in their first over, but then lost 13 in their second over as they lost three wickets. After their four overs they scored three for four.

Gemma and Scarlett played well and accumulated runs at a good pace. Scarlett hit three 4s and Gemma two 4s. They lost two wickets; one to Annabelle who caught Gemma out. As Annabelle willingly played for the opposition who were short of players she received a Citizenship Gold.

The final score was 115 for seven to St Hugh’s and 143 for three to Worksop. It was a really good game that was well fought in the right way.
